The Lever

A lever is a rigid bar that turns on a point called the fulcrum. The lever is made of 3 parts:
1. The Load (what you are trying to lift or move)
2. The Fulcrum (a fixed pivot point)
3. The Effort (the work done on the lever)
There are three different types of levers, depending on where the fulcrum is. The lever trades distance for force like a bottle opener or force for distance like a tennis racquet. Examples of a lever can be car jacks, seesaws, and crowbars.

Levers can be used to lift or move something (catapult).
Another use for levers can be to cut objects (scissors).
