Inclined Planes are simple machines that help move loads from one level to another (up or down).

The inclined plane makes work easier because moving something straight up or down is harder than just rolling or moving something up an inclined plane! Inclined Planes can be shallow (moderate) or steep. It takes less time to move an object up a steep inclined plane, but it takes more effort to move the object up it. Shallow inclined planes are just the opposite (takes more time to go up it, but it takes effort to go up it).

Some examples of inclined planes are parking ramps, wheelchair ramps, and bicycle ramps.
There are many uses for this simple machine. Ramps are used to put large objects on trailers, entertain little kids (slides), and more!
